Ben Affleck's kidnapping thriller is brisk, watchable and largely hollow: a riff on Kurosawa's High and Low that most critics find thin on tension, character and politics. The reviews split mainly on how forgiving to be.
Gillian Anderson gets the best moments. Fine as background viewing on Netflix, not a film to plan an evening around.
